V much enjoyed this! I’ve come into reading Intermezzo directly after finishing Anna Karenina and I also noticed the parallels.
This is not an English novel as Sally Rooney is firmly and decidedly Irish. It may be similar to or reminiscent of various English novels, but the distinction that Rooney's work itself is absolutely not English is an important one.
